Importance of Setting Goals

As this mentorship opportunity progresses each week, I have learned the importance of setting goals. With no placement I have been planning to find other medical opportunities to catch up to 50 mentorship hours by the end of the semester. Setting goals in life is crucial for personal growth and motivation. They provide direction and purpose, helping us stay focused and achieve my dreams. This leaves me feeling excited.

In the past, goal setting was helpful when approaching specifics, being realistic, and time-bounds. Breaking bigger goals into step by step obstacles to approach them stress free.

It’s an easy way to manage steps and celebrate each milestone along the way. I would say I am a natural goal setter. I love setting goals and working towards them. It keeps me motivated. This routine has allowed me to be successful in accomplishing my goals. I’d like to owe my achievements to hard work, determination, and the support of my friends and family. In my personal life, some of my goals are to travel to new places and learn new languages. Professionally, I aim to continuously learn and grow in my field, take on new challenges, and make a positive impact in my work.

Waiting Period

In my personal life, I’ve been working towards improving my photography skills and exploring different art forms. I have currently been booked to take senior photos for the 2024 senior this year. I love to capture

memories through pictures to relive the joy when you look back at them. Academically, I have been pursuing online courses to expand my knowledge in various objects. I am currently taking English 2367 through Columbus State and American Film Through History online. I plan to take psychology second semester and 2D art online. Above all that, I am also wrapping up my college essay and also finishing up my application.

Some learning experiences/resources that I have been using to learn about Pediatric Surgery are medical websites, journals, podcasts, medical shows such as Grey's Anatomy, and educational videos that can provide valuable information on the topic. I have also learned that it’s important to consult with medical professionals for accurate and reliable information.

As this blog comes to the end, so does my online shadowing hours. It been a hard process, but I am glad to have Mrs. Holycross by my side through this whole process.
