Placement:

After a whole semester waiting to get my placement at NCH, I have finally secured multiple mentors in the Oncology and Hematology department. February 17 will be my first day mentoring under Dr. Suzanne Reed. Dr. Reed has an interest towards the clinical focus of pediatric leukemia. Her research focuses on medical education, specifically in curriculum development, learner assessment, trainee well-being, and trainee communication skills. Dr. Reed received her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She completed both her residency and fellowship at Nationwide Children's.

When I mentor underneath Dr. Reed I hope to establish the doctor and patient connection along with expanding my medical terminology. I am excited to start, knowing I have been asking for this opportunity since last semester. The worst thing that could happen is Oncology and Hematology won't be appealing to me, because it’s very slow paced and I want a career where I feel the adrenaline rushing through my body. But I don't want to start my process on a negative path. So I'll be going into this with an open mind, but also making sure that I am aware of how I feel throughout this mentoring. Wish me luck with my first day mentoring at NCH!
